Gospel musician Celestine Donkor has recounted a shocking incident that occurred while she was attempting to order food from the renowned restaurant, Papaye.

In a video shared on social media on February 4, 2025, Celestine Donkor narrated how she lost GH¢1,000 while trying to order food for her niece’s birthday party.

“I have been scammed by Papaye’s online service, and I am making this video to create awareness. My sister’s kids were celebrating their birthday, so I decided to order from Papaye’s Lapaz branch. I found a contact number online and called. They took my order and gave me a bill, asking me to make payment. I told them I would pay upon pickup, but they declined, claiming that some customers place orders but fail to pay when the food is ready.”

“I proceeded with the payment, but the moment the money was deducted, I noticed that the recipient’s name was not ‘Papaye.’ However, it was the same number I had found online. When I called back, they insisted they were Papaye but were using their manager’s number for transactions. They even asked me to enter a code. That was when I realized I had been scammed,” she explained.

Celestine Donkor further alleged that the staff at Papaye were aware of the fraudulent activities but showed little interest in resolving the issue to prevent future occurrences.

“The attitude of the Papaye staff at the Lapaz branch when I got there clearly showed they were aware of the scam. Their response lacked any urgency or concern. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of them is behind this fraud. Beware! Don’t be a victim,” she warned.

Celestine Donkor is not the only person who has fallen victim to such scams when ordering food from the restaurant. Recently, brand influencer and actress Ahuofe Patri also took to social media to share a similar experience after attempting to order food from Papaye.
