Popular Ghanaian Disc Jockey cum media personality, DJ Slim, has expressed dissapointment at Ghanaian artistes who fail to target prestigious award schemes like the Grammy Awards when releasing their projects.

DJ Slim made these statements while referencing Stonebwoy, after he recently stated that his newest ‘Up and Running’ album was not targeted at the Grammys.

Reacting to such comments during an interview with Kwadwo Sheldon, he said, “I was so disappointed in Stonebwoy on that day. What is wrong with targeting the Grammys with a project? Or was he afraid that if he stated he was targeting the Grammys and didn’t get a nomination, he would be ridiculed?

He also criticised what he described as the nonchalant attitude of some artistes toward local awards schemes, such as the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs).

“All this starts with the local awards schemes; most artistes, when they are nominated for the TGMAs, don’t even post the flyers. Some don’t even go. They are afraid that if they do all that and they don’t win, they will be mocked,” he said.

He added, “On any awards night, there are more losers than winners. But being nominated means that all the songs released that year are in the top 5 or 6. Isn’t that a proud moment?”
