Popular Ghanaian musician and businessman Criss Waddle is making headlines with his reaction to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) crushing defeat in the December 7, 2024, presidential election.

The election saw the National Democratic Congress (NDC) reclaim power after eight years of NPP governance under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Responding to a follower on X (formerly Twitter) who questioned why he had not been vocal during Akufo-Addo’s presidency, Criss Waddle revealed that fear for his safety prevented him from speaking out.

    In his post, he wrote:
“With all due respect. Them beat honorable Sam George before and nothing happened. A whole honorable ooo. Then u Dey there say why didn’t I speak long ago na I be coward. If I didn’t stay coward like by now I die long time ago. 8 years military rule.”

His comments have sparked widespread debate on social media, with many reflecting on the state of freedom of speech and political accountability in Ghana.

While some applauded Criss Waddle for his honesty, others criticized him for what they viewed as an excuse for not speaking up earlier
