Singer and songwriter, Mr. Eazi, has disclosed what fuelled his decision to engage in entrepreneurship despite having musical talent.

In an interview shared on Instagram on August 26, 2025, Mr. Eazi noted that he was inspired by one of Africa’s richest men, Aliko Dangote, at the age of 15.

He explained that he has always wanted to venture into business and didn’t have the dream of becoming an artiste.

“I didn’t want to be an artiste, I wanted to be an entrepreneur since I was 15. I just wanted to be Aliko Dangote, who is the richest black person in the world,” he stated.

Recounting how he transitioned into music, Mr. Eazi noted that his passion for music began after organising a concert while in school.

“I started doing parties in my school because my school was an engineering school. So everybody is focused on work. And those parties turned to concerts and festivals. That was how I found myself in the studios because it was fun.”

Mr. Eazi further narrated how he met American singer and songwriter Lauryn Hill.

According to him, his first commercial performance was in 2015 when the musician invited him to the USA.

I rejected £356,000 record deal when I had just £20 in my account – Mr. Eazi

“In 2015, Lauryn Hill reached out and they wanted me to come perform in the Kings Theatre. I hadn’t even decided to be an artiste at that time. That was my first time playing in the USA. I had no manager at that time. I was just with a guitar… It was surreal when she came to tell me she liked it,” he added.
