Veteran Ghanaian musician Agya Koo Nimo has expressed his desire to meet President John Dramani Mahama.

Speaking in an interview with Kafui Dey, the legendary highlife musician showed appreciation to Mahama for acknowledging him during the launch of the Black Star Experience on May 1, 2025.

At the event, the President instructed the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, to organise a ceremony to honour Agya Koo Nimo.

Reacting to this gesture, the musician said he is grateful that the President mentioned his name and recognised his contributions to music.

“Let the president know that we are very much appreciative of what he said and especially mentioning Koo Nimo,” he said.

Agya Koo Nimo also noted that although he has never met Mahama in person, he hopes to one day get the chance to do so.

“I haven’t met him before, it’s challenging to meet great people. One day, he should pass by my side and if he does, the whole world would shake,” he stated.

He added that he would be glad to shake the President’s hand and have a conversation with him. He also mentioned that he has met the Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, in the past.

“He should make us hear from each other, I haven’t shaken his hands before, as for Naana, she used to invite me to Cape Coast to play,” he said.

Agya Koo Nimo stressed that he would like to thank the President in person for showing him such respect and honour.

“I want to meet the president and thank him personally and tell him we are proud of him,” he stated.

    Dear President @JDMahama

Agya Koo Nimo says he’s very appreciative of the fact that you mentioned his name, however he wants to meet you personally to thank you and tell you how proud he is of you.

    Thank you.
