The head coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo, has expressed his desire to establish and implement a distinctive playing philosophy for the team.

According to reports from the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the former Borussia Dortmund assistant coach has proposed a disciplined and accountable system fostering trust among players and staff as part of his strategy to address the team’s challenges.

Otto Addo has come under heavy criticism following Ghana’s failure to secure qualification for the 2025 AFCON, with many fans calling for his dismissal.

After being summoned to defend his performance at a meeting with the GFA’s Executive Council, Addo declared his intention to develop a strong identity or “DNA” for the team if allowed to continue as head coach.

This was revealed in a statement released by the GFA on Friday, November 29, 2024.

According to the GFA, Otto Addo’s report addressed the team’s shortcomings. It was thoroughly examined by members of the council and regional chairpersons, with Addo providing additional explanations.

“He went on to outline key areas that needed improvement moving forward. He indicated his intention to build a strong and cohesive system that fosters discipline, accountability, and trust among players and backroom staff while emphasising a clear and recognisable playing philosophy,” the statement read.

Although Addo managed to convince the Executive Council with his report, divisions remain within the administration. Some members are advocating for his dismissal, while others support extending his tenure.
