Ghanaian actor and film producer Fiifi Coleman has expressed admiration for veteran actor Fred Amugi, stating that he hopes to emulate his humility and dedication to the craft as he grows older.

Speaking in an interview on TV3 on February 24, 2026, Coleman said he aspires to be like the celebrated actor when he reaches the ages of 77 and 85.

“I want my 77 and 85 years to be like Uncle Fred. I understand that we’re humans, and humility is the key in the industry in which we are,” he stated.

According to him, Fred Amugi has never belittled younger actors or constantly reminded them of his long-standing career in the film industry.

“Every time you’re in his presence, there’s nothing like him trying to remind us that he started acting long before us. He treats everyone as if we’re his mates,” he said.

Coleman further recounted how the veteran actor often shows kindness on set by bringing food for colleagues.

“He used to supply bananas to us whenever we were on set, and he brings snacks to the rehearsal grounds,” he shared.

The actor emphasised that he does not want to fall short of the standard set by Amugi when he reaches that stage in life.

“I just do not want to be anything shy of who he is when I grow up to be the age that he is, so that others can also feel free to learn from what we do,” he noted.

He also disclosed that Fred Amugi has repeatedly stated that retirement is not on his agenda.

“I’ve heard him several times say that he’s never retiring, and the only time he would retire is when God calls him,” he added.
