Ghanaian media personality and women’s advocate Afua Asantewaa, has revealed that she receives no fewer than five reports of abuse from women in her inbox every day.

Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime on November 21, 2025, Afua explained that abuse goes far beyond the physical acts often highlighted in public discussions.

According to her, many women are battling various forms of mistreatment, including financial and sexual abuse, yet most cases remain hidden from the public eye.

“Generally, I want to begin with my inbox. I usually have at least five cases come through regarding abuse.

“Abuse is not just physical. We have financial abuse, sexual abuse, it’s a broad topic. Women are really going through it,” she said.

She noted that although certain incidents gain attention only when they go viral online, the situation behind closed doors is far more troubling.

“Either way, this went viral and that’s why we are having this conversation, but behind closed doors, it’s terrible,” she added.
