Media personality Kpekpo Maxwell Justice, popularly known as KMJ, has opened up about his humble beginnings and the grit that shaped his journey to success.

In an interview on Joy Prime, monitored by MyNewsGh, the radio and television host recounted how he started from the streets, selling sachet water—locally known as “Opinyin Dipinyin”—to make ends meet.

“I’ve done this. I’ve sold pure water,” KMJ shared. “My mum had a big freezer, so I decided not to let it go to waste. I used to tie water in rubber bags, freeze them, and sell them on my head.”

Despite being teased and receiving curious stares from his peers, KMJ said he never felt ashamed.

“My schoolmates would see me selling it, but I didn’t have a problem with that.”

In a lighthearted moment, he revealed that one Sheila still has a video of him from those days—sewing while perched on a ceiling.

“Sheila was amazed… Actually, I think she still has a video of me sewing on the ceiling,” he said with a laugh.

KMJ credited his hardworking mindset to a childhood filled with determination and lessons in self-reliance.

“I grew up knowing very well that if I wanted to be anything, I needed to work for it.”

Although his father wasn’t always present, KMJ noted that those circumstances helped fuel his passion and hustle.
