Former Accra Hearts of Oak NCC Vice Chairman, Aziz Haruna Futa

Aziz Haruna Futa, a former Vice Chairman of the National Chapters Committee of Accra Hearts of Oak has said that he regrets supporting the floatation of shares in the club.

Accra Hearts of Oak in November 2008 floated shares after launching its Initial Public Offer (IPO) to become the first football club in Ghana to list on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE).

After the flotation of shares in 2008, Togbe Afede XIV, the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State became the majority shareholder of Accra Hearts of Oak SC.

Reflecting on the decision to go public with the club, Haruna Futa who was a strong advocate for the floatation of shares has said he has regretted the decision he took 17 years ago.

“I was a strong supporter of the floatation of shares as the Vice Chairman of the National Chapters Committee. The idea was to let the fans own the club because financially we weren’t doing well.”

“Now i can say i regret that decision of supporting the floatation of shares even though i bought some of the shares myself,” Aziz Haruna Futa said on Sporty FM.
