Ghanaian Kumawood actor Big Akwes has narrated the emotional toll he faced after a woman who once helped him during a life-threatening illness later tarnished his reputation.

In an interview with Emelia Brobbey on Okukuseku the Talk Show, Big Akwes revealed that while he was struggling with a severe sickness and financial constraints, a woman stepped in to assist him by buying medicines and helping him cover his medical expenses.

However, after he recovered and gained fame, the woman began spreading false claims about being the one who saved his life.

“Some time ago, I was seriously ill in Kumasi. A young man, along with a group of people, came to visit me. They wanted to take me to the hospital the next day, but a man named Packer disagreed and insisted on taking me that same day. He cared for me for a week because I was financially unstable. After that, a woman decided to help and bought drugs for me,” Big Akwes recounted.

However, after he regained his health, the same woman began to publicly claim that she was the one who had taken him to the hospital and that he would have died without her help.

“She started tarnishing my image, saying that if not for her, I would be dead by now. I confronted her about it, and when I asked if she wanted the money she spent on me, she said no. That’s when I truly regretted accepting her help,” he added.

Reflecting on the painful experience, Big Akwes said that he no longer wants to receive help from anyone.

“I regret accepting her help. If I had to go through such a situation again, I’d rather die in peace than let someone rescue me just to later tarnish my name. What’s the point of helping someone if it only leads to this?” he queried.
