Justice A. Newton-Offei, a member of the New Patriotic Party’s social media communication team and presidential staffer, provided some insightful thoughts during his visit to the Jubilee House today. He highlighted the fleeting nature of political power and its basis in popular will, which he believed held the final say in whether it was granted or revoked. Newton-Offei asserted that “political power, indeed, is ephemeral,” noting that many leaders frequently fail to see that their term is “wielded on borrowed time.” He bemoaned humanity’s inability to learn from the past, emphasizing the persistent trend of conceit and poor leadership by people in positions of authority. President Akufo Addo was also defended by Justice Newton-Offei, who said he was a decent leader who worked hard for the nation but was disappointed by those signs he trusted.

He offered a nuanced analysis of the administration’s difficulties, saying, “Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is a good man who, wholeheartedly, did his best, but some people he trusted failed him.” Newton-Offei ended by making a moving statement about Ghana’s shifting political climate, stating that the “die is cast, l” and the people have taken back control. Newton advocated for introspection and urged leaders to be accountable to their communities and humble themselves.
