Showbiz promoter Sam Larry has finally addressed the swirling controversy linking him to the tragic death of rising Afrobeats star, Mohbad — and he’s not holding back.

Speaking virtually at the coroner’s inquest, Sam Larry denied ever laying a finger on Mohbad, insisting that their relationship was strictly business.

“I never harassed or beat Mohbad. The only connection I had with him was giving him shows,” he said.

According to Larry, the friction between them began after he paid Mohbad ₦2 million to perform at his birthday party in Dubai — a party he claimed cost him over ₦20 million to organise.

Mohbad allegedly bailed at the last minute, and that’s when tensions flared.

“I messaged him on Instagram to refund the money, but he ignored me. I even involved my lawyer… still nothing,” Larry added.

He also addressed the now-viral Elegushi Beach incident, saying he only confronted Mohbad verbally and that it was resolved peacefully, thanks to Zlatan’s intervention. “Afterwards, we all sat down to eat.

There was no fight,” he claimed. Sam Larry did confirm that Mohbad filed a petition against him — alleging he brought thugs and weapons to the beach.

But he says the late singer never showed up for any of the police invitations to defend his claims.

And about the viral clip where he was heard saying “Won ti gbe sin” (They’ve buried him)? Sam Larry says it’s from 2013, had nothing to do with Mohbad, and was misinterpreted.

He ended his testimony by urging the court to focus on the people who were around Mohbad in the final hours before his death. “They know what really happened to him,” he said solemnly.
