Ghanaian highlife musician and songwriter, Kofi Kinaata, is pleading with fans to vote for him in the upcoming 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards.

In a video shared on social media on May 9, 2025, Kofi Kinaata, who has been nominated for three categories at the TGMAs, noted that he is optimistic about winning all three awards.

He emphasised that he needs the awards to fill the empty spaces in his awards collections.

“Tomorrow’s TGMAs is all about filling in the empty spaces. I want to fill all these corners with the awards. So, God willing tomorrow, I am winning the Highlife Artiste of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Record of the Year,” he said.

The ‘Effiakuma Broken Heart’ hitmaker also sarcastically pleaded with netizens to explain how the award scheme works to his mother, Auntie Ama.

According to the musician, after using his mother’s name for a song, she has consistently asked for revenue gained from the music.

“There is a little problem surrounding the Record of the Year because I titled that song, Auntie Ama and she has consistently asked me about the music. Social media lawyers, please explain to my mother that if you win an award, you are given a plaque and not money.

“Moreover, we want this plaque more than money. So, I don’t want a situation where after winning the Record of the Year, she would ask me for money attached to it,” he added.

The much-anticipated TGMAs come off on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Center (AICC).

Musicians billed to perform on the night include Stonebwoy, King Promise, King Paluta, KiDi, Beeztrap KOTM, and Ayisi, among others.
