Ghanaian actress cum media personality Nana Ama McBrown has opened up on the emotional turmoil she endured after experiencing her first heartbreak.

In a discussion on the Onua Showtime program that went viral on November 25, 2024, McBrown recalled how she had dreamed of settling down with the man she fell in love with, only to face heartbreak when things didn’t work out between them.

Reflecting on the painful experience, she admitted how close she came to losing control of her emotions.

“When I started dating, I was with a handsome young man, and I thought we were going to settle down and have a family together. I had imagined living with him in his beautiful house, driving his car, everything seemed perfect. Even though his mother liked me, I noticed some things that made me wonder if we were truly meant to be. My grandmother even advised me not to date him, but I didn’t listen,” she shared.

McBrown went on to explain how devastating the breakup was for her, saying, “When he broke my heart, it felt like my life was over. It was like I was on fire, and everything came crashing down. I was in a very dark place. One day, my grandmother asked me to run an errand for her at Kwadaso Market. Can you imagine, I left the house in my pajamas and didn’t even notice. I was so lost in my emotions; I nearly went mad.”

She added that the experience was a turning point in her life, and she emphasised the importance of resilience for young people facing similar heartbreaks.

“If I had taken my life, I wouldn’t be standing here today telling you, my story. So, to my young ones out there, I urge you not to make any drastic decisions if you go through something like this. I’m sharing my experience so you can learn from it. Please, don’t harm yourselves,” she stated.

The actress, however, did not disclose who the said lover was.
