Ace Ghanaian gospel musician Jacob Kwaw, popularly known as Jack Alolome, has revealed how a bitter experience with the NPP propelled him to join the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM on June 23, 2025, Alolome, who was originally a supporter of the NPP and raised by diehard members of the party, shared how he once supported an NPP event in Kumasi, abandoning his own show in Breman Asikuma to perform at the Kumasi Sports Stadium.

“There was an NPP programme at the Kumasi Sports Stadium, for which Sam Pyne asked me to perform. I had to stop my own programme at Breman Asikuma. We came and gave a great performance,” he narrated.

He recalled being introduced by Lord Inusah and improvising a campaign song on the spot. However, when it came to payment, nobody took responsibility.

“Whoever I called for payment referred me to someone else. We were never paid,” he lamented.

His turning point came later that year when NDC MP Kofi Buah invited him to perform at a campaign event.

“On the day, the DJ struggled to play my song, so I had to perform a cappella. I did that for about five minutes on stage. Later, when I returned to my hotel, they came to thank me for gracing the occasion.

“When I checked the money they had left for me, it was GH¢20,000, back in 2016. I placed it on my bed, took a picture, and sent it to my family, telling them this party was better and that we should be with them instead,” he shared.

Alolome clarified that his alignment with the NDC wasn’t driven by greed but by respect and gratitude.

Their willingness to honor his contribution, he said, showed that he would be treated better compared to his experience with the NPP. Since then, he has thrown his support behind the NDC and President John Dramani Mahama.
