Legendary Ghanaian singer Kojo Antwi has recounted one of the craziest experiences he ever had with security officials while abroad.

The man, affectionately known as Mr Music Man, recalled that at a point in his life he had to hide in a car boot while travelling from Germany to Switzerland.

“Immigration was the main one. That was the real episode I had. I had to slip into a car boot and hide while being driven from Germany, from Constance, into Switzerland,” he disclosed in an interview with Kafui Dey.

When asked in which car’s boot he hid, he disclosed that “it was a Golf car.”

Mr Music Man further noted that he was not alone in the boot, explaining that there were four of them in total and that he was covered with blankets throughout the journey to avoid detection by immigration officers.

‘I used to carry a picture of my wife’ – Kojo Antwi shares

“We’re talking about four of us. I was the first one to enter the boot, so I had to wait for the others. Then they went for the others. Three of them: two got into one car and one went into another car. They covered me with blankets and all that. Because if the immigration officer had asked to see what was in the boot, I would have been in serious trouble,” he added.

After nearly two decades of preparation, the Highlife legend and Afro-pop pioneer has launched his long-awaited autobiography, titled From Bands to Ballads to Brilliance: Mr Music Man – The Journey.

The book, which blends his personal story with the evolution of Ghanaian music, was officially launched on 13 February 2026, at the Labadi Beach Hotel.
