Kurt Okraku has refused to rule out running for third term as GFA President Kurt Okraku has refused to rule out running for third term as GFA President

President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku has said that he has not taken a decision to run for a third term amidst controversy on the issue.

According to him, he has two and a half years to serve as the President of the GFA and is focused on working hard to achieve more successes.

The former owner of Dreams FC urged Ghanaians to refrain from making his third term a topic of discussion which could affect the smooth running of football in Ghana.

Addressing the media during the 31st Ordinary Congress held on August 12, 2025, Okraku advised the public to support the GFA’s strategy in promoting football activities.

BREAKING: GFA Congress approves extension of presidential term limit to three terms

“We have at the moment almost two and a half years to serve the Ghanaian game and when it comes to that time, I will make a decision. Just like many other people who are eligible to make a decision and to contest. So this should not be a topic for us.

“What should be a topic is how we handle the new wave that is blowing around our domestic game. The high level of investment that the FA has worked to bring into reality and how well our clubs can respond to our current situation in our attempt to develop the Ghanaian game,” he said.

This comes after 114 out of the 124 members of Congress, which includes GFA president Kurt Okraku voted in favor of the motion to extend the term limit of the leader of the association from two to three.

Gifty Oware set to become GFA’s second Vice President following Congress approval

Six people voted against the motion to extend the term limits of the GFA president, stressing the fact that two terms of four years each is enough for one to implement his ideas to develop the game, while three members abstained from the vote.
