Popular Ghanaian rapper, Medikal, has addressed what he described as misconceptions surrounding his lifestyle and career, insisting that much of the flashy lifestyle people assume he has is not his own.

Speaking with veteran broadcaster Andy Dosty on Joy Prime, Medikal said people believe he is rich and established, mainly because of his social media posts, but he denied that claim.

“People think I have money, but I don’t have anything. I am still upcoming,” he said, prompting laughter from the host.

When asked about social media posts showing cars and wealth, he stated the vehicles were borrowed for shoots.

He further cited top international artistes, stating that they equally do the same.

“Even Rick Ross and others, they borrow cars to shoot content,” he remarked.

The rapper also addressed another common perception, that he’s rude.

The ‘Shoulder’ rapper argued that his online and stage persona should not be confused with his real life. Stating that many people who meet him in person are often surprised by how calm and grounded he is.

“You see movie actors like Rambo killing people, but in real life, they’re different people. In the same way, they shouldn’t attach my online personality to my personal life.

“I can compose a song and diss people, but that does not mean I’m rude in my personal life. That’s not how I am,” he said.

Medikal’s remarks come amid ongoing debates in Ghana’s entertainment industry about the pressures of flashy lifestyles and what it means to be ‘successful.’
