Veteran Ghanaian hiplife artiste, Mzbel, has opened up on her two-decade-long career, disclosing that she has never received an award despite her contributions to the Ghanaian music industry.

“I have been in the industry for 20 years, yet I have never received an award,” She stated on Joy FM’s ‘Showbiz A-Z

Mzbel was once among the top female artistes who gained popularity beyond the borders of Ghana, particularly in Nigeria, Liberia, Ivory Coast, and Kenya.

But speaking on her achievements and contributions to the industry, she noted that while she has been appreciated in other African countries, Ghana has yet to officially recognise her with an award.

Speaking further on this situation, Mzbel reflected on what she would do differently if she were starting her music career in today’s world.

She also acknowledged that her approach at that time was not well-structured, which may have impacted her recognition in the industry.

“I am not blaming anyone. I think it comes down to branding. If I were starting today, I would be more intentional about it. Back then, I didn’t put much thought into branding. I would go on the radio and say anything, wear whatever I felt like, and attend events without careful consideration,” she explained.
