Ghanaian footballer André Dede Ayew has stated that he has no plans to end his football career anytime soon.

According to him, he is physically fit and does not feel any weakness that would warrant retirement at this stage of his career.

The NAC Breda forward indicated that despite his age, he has not suffered major injuries that hamper his progress, which demonstrates his fitness at 36.

“Yeah, no, I never thought about it [retirement] because my body is good. I feel good. I’ve played a lot of years, and touch wood, I’ve been fit for several years and able to play game after game. I live my life day to day, so I prepare myself every time to have a better tomorrow on the field and off the field. I don’t think about that.

“I think when the moment comes, your body will tell you. That’s how I see it. And for now, my body is not responding negatively at all. So I need to continue working. The matches will get me fitter and make me feel better,” he told ESPN.

Ayew noted that his recent brief break from football was to reflect on personal issues and had nothing to do with fitness. He added that he has now recovered and is ready to move forward.

“And that’s all I’m thinking about. But no, I never thought about stopping because the six months I didn’t play were not football-related. They were personal reasons I had to deal with and sort out so I could clear my mind and come back on top of my game mentally and physically. But I was working, so I’m quite happy, and this is the start of something new,” he added.
