Media personality MC Portfolio has opened up about the intense social media backlash he has faced after receiving GH¢5,000 from dancehall musician Shatta Wale.

In a discussion on Hitz FM on December 5, 2024, MC Portfolio revealed that he hasn’t been himself over the past few weeks, as he has been the target of widespread online abuse.

He emphasised that this was the first time in his career that he had faced such a situation.

“For the past few weeks, it’s been hell for me. I’ve been the most abused person on the internet. This is the first time I’ve experienced anything like this in my career. I’m not an emotional person, but this one hit me the hardest because people completely misconstrued the entire situation,” he stated.

When asked about his relationship with Shatta Wale and how they met, MC Portfolio clarified that he had never been a fan of the dancehall musician.

He explained that their connection was purely professional.

“First of all, you’re the one who connected me to Shatta Wale, and that’s how we met. Through that introduction, we worked on a project together. I’ve never been an SM (Shatta Movement) fan, and our relationship was strictly based on the Kumasi Las Vegas project we had,” he said.

MC Portfolio further revealed that, despite the public perception, he personally funded some of the projects he worked on with Shatta Wale.

“For some of the projects I had with Shatta Wale, I can say I financed them from my own pocket because I was excited about helping my boys. I never took a penny for those projects,” he added.

    Background

The controversy began on November 22, 2024, when Shatta Wale visited the Ashanti Region on a media tour, and made stops at stations like Angel FM and Fakye Showbiz.

During his appearance on Fakye Showbiz, Shatta Wale offered MC Portfolio, a close associate of Stonebwoy, GH¢5,000 live on TV, sparking massive condemnation.

Critics slammed Portfolio for accepting money from Shatta Wale, who is considered Stonebwoy’s greatest rival in the industry.
