Kunta Kinte, a member of popular music duo, Bradez, has opened up on his 15-year battle with a life-threatening illness.

In an interview on Fakye Showbiz on December 14, 2024, the “One Gallon” hitmaker shared how his health ordeal began with a stroke.

He revealed that the stroke left the right side of his body non-functional, making it impossible for him to walk or lift his arm.

He said he was confined to a wheelchair, although he didn’t remain in it for long.

“I have been sick for the past fifteen years. But I remain motivated and believe that one day I will be completely healed. The sickness started with a stroke, and for a while, I couldn’t even walk or use my arms. I had to sit in a wheelchair. But I didn’t stay in it for long. If I were to tell you my story, I wouldn’t finish today,” he said.

Despite the challenges, Kunta Kinte emphasised that he never entertained thoughts of suicide.

Instead, he viewed his journey as a source of motivation for others struggling with health issues.

“You have to believe in yourself. Your life is precious, so you have to push through. My story motivates others who are sick to believe that they too will heal. Suicide never crossed my mind. I’m always happy. As long as I’m alive, I enjoy life just like I used to,” he added.

Kunta Kinte also addressed rumours stating his illness was a result of snatching someone’s girlfriend.

He dismissed these claims saying, “They said I became sick because I snatched someone’s girlfriend. But when it comes to football, I know how to play. I also play basketball, rap, and do a lot of things. People didn’t know what was wrong with me, so that’s why they spread such rumours.”
