On Friday, January 24, well-known Ghanaian actress and television personality Nana Ama McBrown addressed long-standing claims that she was responsible for the untimely death of fellow actress Suzzy Williams in an open admission on her program, “Onua Showtime with McBrown.”
As you may remember, Suzzy Williams died on September 8, 2005, at the age of 23, in a car accident. Her passing did, in fact, cause a stir in Ghana. After her passing, there were accusations that Nana Ama McBrown was involved in the tragedy, allegedly due to rivalry and jealousy in the entertainment business.
McBrown, however, was shocked and devastated by claims that she was involved in the car accident that killed the young actress during the interview.
Recalling how she first heard of the tragic news, McBrown stated, “I had just returned to Ghana from a trip to Italy with the late gospel singer Seth Frimpong. While in a minibus heading home, I heard in the car that Suzzy had passed away.” She added that she immediately called their senior colleague, Kofi Adjorlolo, who confirmed the news, revealing he was at the mortuary where Suzzy’s body had been sent.
“I was shocked and heartbroken. Why would I do such an abominable thing? Suzzy was like a sister to me. We worked together frequently, and there was no competition or jealousy between us,” she emphasized.
