Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene has revealed that he was made aware of his recent appointment barely a day before the ministerial list was put out by the presidency.

Speaking on Starr Chat with Bola Ray, he said he did not expect to be considered for the coveted position when President John Mahama took office.

He stated he got word about his appointment through a “whistleblower”.

“I didn’t see it coming. I only got wind of it the day before,” he disclosed during the interview.

“When I heard the news, I was surprised. I said ‘Really?’ Because I had worked with the president on different projects so when he calls, ‘Frank I need you to do this’. And I do it to his satisfaction for him.

“So after the elections and everything,” he continued, “we had not talked for a while so I was only concerned about how to reposition the party.”

He said he was largely focused on how the party could be reorganized for the purpose of governance when he got word that he was being considered for Ashanti Regional Minister.

Dr. Amoakohene added that while he was pleased by the nomination, he was conscious of the enormous responsibility he bore as his success could go a long way toward a strong case for the youth in leadership.

The medical doctor played a crucial role in the victory of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) as Regional Secretary in the Ashanti Region, deploying social media immensely particularly TikTok to share persuasive messages.
