Popular gospel musician Cwesi Oteng has disclosed the spiritual attacks he faced in the gospel music fraternity at the beginning of his career.

In a discussion on JoyPrime, Cwesi Oteng revealed that when his music began to change the face of Ghanaian gospel music, some individuals attacked his career and albums.

He emphasised that, at one point, some people took his album to the cemetery as a sign to prevent his career from reaching its peak.

“When I stepped into gospel music, I was like a fresh idea, and I started breaking a lot of ground where gospel had not ventured. Suddenly, doors were opening for gospel music. It also came with a lot of attacks.

“At one point, it was a spiritual war. Church people were attacking and saying all sorts of things. Gospel musicians also felt like the new guy had come to change the scene. People were doing all sorts of things. They took my album to places; some even took it to cemeteries,” he said.

Cwesi Oteng added that the spiritual battles he faced negatively affected his music.

However, despite these challenges, he mentioned that he is re-energized and ready to continue making music.

“You also want to live long, so when you realize that, you want to re-energize yourself. Stardom is my thing; I can leave the scene, take care of myself for a year, and then come back. Trying to be in people’s faces all the time is not for me,” he added.
