The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GhanaWeb, the country’s biggest online media portal, David Antwi, has shared his profound memories of the late Highlife legend, Daddy Lumba.

In a media interaction on July 29, 2025, following a visit to the late Lumba’s residence to commiserate with the bereaved family, David Antwi shared how the musician’s songs have shaped the lives of many music lovers.

According to David Antwi, the late Daddy Lumba was an icon, adding that his music will continue to live with Ghanaians for a longer period of time.

“Most of us grew up listening to Daddy Lumba in times of joy, sorrow, partying, outdooring, whether you are in Ghana or outside, everybody knows Daddy Lumba… I don’t think there is a Ghanaian who can say they do not know Daddy Lumba.

“He was an icon, he is somebody who has done almost all there is to do. It is unbelievable that in this short space of time, the number of materials he has been able to generate. It is going to be with us for years to come,” he said.

David Antwi, in his submission, also expressed profound gratitude to the late musician for contributing immensely to Ghana’s entertainment space.

He added that no Ghanaian could have done what the late musician achieved within 60 years.

“Despite the sad passing, we are at the same time appreciative of all that he has been able to do for us while he was with us. These songs are going to be with us, our children, and grandchildren for many years to come.

“I don’t think anybody else could have done what he did within these 60 years. We are very grateful to Daddy Lumba,” he added.
