Oscar Korbla Mawuli is a young Ghanaian artist

Young Ghanaian artist, Oscar Korbla Mawuli, who also owns Yonga Arts, has spoken about the controversies surrounding his craft.

In an interview with GhanaWeb‘s Joseph Henry Mensah on Talkertainment on August 18, 2025, Oscar noted that he likes to engage in professionalism, adding that he values his integrity as far as painting nude bodies is concerned.

“I don’t mix pleasure with work. I always believe the industry is very small, so when it comes to the creative space, you might chance upon someone who knows the other.

“And because I work with women a lot, I always believe they are interconnected in a way… So I wouldn’t want my name out there for negative reasons that I tried to sexually assault a lady,” he said.

Oscar further talked about his much-anticipated book, titled “Anansinim” and the ideology behind the book.

According to Oscar Korbla Mawuli, his book is inspired by Ghanaian mythology; Kwaku Ananse, and also the Adinkra symbol.

“Anansinim is basically my style that I use for my painting. It is basically inspired by Kwaku Ananse and my own pattern that I fuse in. I also fuse it with Adinkra symbols,’ he added.
