Young Ghanaian artist Oscar Korbla Mawuli, who also owns Yonga Arts, has opened up about the behind-the-scenes of his work.
In a sit-down interview with GhanaWeb’s Joseph Henry Mensah on Talkertainment on August 18, 2025, Oscar, who is noted for his nude body art paintings, stressed that he does not entertain inappropriate or “naughty” conversations with his models.
Oscar explained that although painting completely naked women can be tempting, he is guided by morals and integrity.
There is more professionalism attached to film industry in Nigeria than Ghana – James Gardiner
“It comes down to the artist and their morals. For me, I am very strict. I also ensure the environment is comfortable so there is no room for unrelated or naughty conversations. Everything remains art-related until the work is completed,” he said.
When asked how he maintains a balance between intimacy and professionalism, Oscar revealed that he uses a model contract to guide his work.
“I am very strict when it comes to my practice. I give every model a contract, and the entire process is documented. All our conversations remain strictly art-related,” he added.
