Dancer and choreographer Dancegod Lloyd has shed light on how he decides which songs to create dance challenges for, disclosing that he turns down many of the requests that come his way.

Speaking on the August 23, 2025 edition of NF Studio’s Top Secret, the man behind King Promise’s viral ‘Terminator’ dance and some other popular steps explained that not every song he entertains.

I was disturbed, depressed – Dancegod Lloyd reflects on backlash after leaving DWP

He stated that his choices are guided by the kind of influence he has on young people who follow his work.

According to him, the content of a song is the first thing he considers before putting together a dance routine.

He noted that if the lyrics are laced with profanity, he chooses to step away from it entirely.

“I have rejected a lot of songs. A lot of kids look up to me so if the content of the song does not make sense, like with the lyrics, if they are too profane yeah,” he said.

I got carried away working with big artistes, I wasn’t making any bread – Dancegod Lloyd

Lloyd also admitted that sometimes, even when a song has acceptable content, the process of making a trend does not always come together smoothly.

He shared that there are moments when he tries to create a challenge but cannot find the right moves to fit the rhythm.

In such cases, he said he allows the artiste to move on to another dancer who may have a different creative approach.

“Yeah sometimes you don’t get what you want and you let it be. Let it go to the next person. I try as much as possible to be human,” he explained.
