The Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, Dr Randy Abbey, has disclosed that he was unaware of the precise date for the Asante Kotoko versus Accra Hearts of Oak game.

According to him, he was aware that the game would take place, but he did not know the exact schedule for the match.

The GFA Executive Committee (Exco) member asserted that the low publicity surrounding the game seems to affect the hype around it, which is problematic for the progress of the Ghana Premier League.

“I don’t know about the game [Super clash]. To be honest, I knew there was a Hearts of Oak-Kotoko game, but I didn’t know it was this Sunday,” Randy Abbey said ahead of the game, as reported by Luv FM.

Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko played out a goalless draw at the Accra Sports Stadium, with both teams failing to convert their chances in a fiercely contested Ghana Premier League.

Coming into the fixture as underdogs, Hearts of Oak were under pressure after three straight defeats to their rivals and a below-par season. Kotoko, by contrast, started brighter and looked more threatening in the opening exchanges.

Despite the chances, neither side could find the breakthrough. Hearts edged possession (51%), while Kotoko registered more shots (10 to 5), but both teams lacked the cutting edge in front of goal.

The draw keeps Asante Kotoko in fourth place with 51 points, while Hearts of Oak sit sixth with 46 points, with their slim hopes of a league title all but extinguished.
