Ghanaian Kumawood actor Big Akwes has denied claims made that he was crying on social media due to marital problems.

In an interview with Emelia Brobbey on December 2, 2024, Big Akwes explained that the emotional TikTok video that sparked the discussion was part of a social media trend, not a cry over relationship issues.

“Some music videos don’t align with their songs, sometimes, sorrowful songs are paired with joyous visuals. I did the video because of a social media trend using emotional music. That’s why I was crying, not because I was going through a marital crisis. As a public figure, there’s no way I’d post something negative about myself on social media,” he clarified.

Asides from that, Big Akwes was also asked if he has ever been ungrateful to anyone who once helped him, and he answered,

“I’m not ungrateful. Whenever someone helps me, I make sure to show my appreciation. There are people who have spread negative rumors about me, but because they’ve helped me before, I won’t say anything bad about them. I just let them talk and stay silent,” he said.

    Background

The couple, who married in a private ceremony in Kumasi in August 2023, separated just a few months later due to unresolved issues, particularly following claims that his wife had been maltreating him.

Prior to their split, they both lived in Germany, after Freda helped Big Akwes relocate and join her there.

Recently, Freda took to social media to share the emotional distress she was faced following their separation, particularly concerning custody disputes over their children.
