The Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Richard Ofori-Agyemang Boadi, popularly known as Zuba, has disclosed that he faced backlash from local boys after announcing plans to crack down on commercial sex workers in the Ashanti Region.

Speaking in an interview on Fakye TV on February 24, 2026, Zuba explained that after publicly stating his intention to address commercial sex work in the region, he was met with intense resistance from some community members.

He noted that although he is typically a tough person, the reaction left him feeling vulnerable.

“I came under severe heat from the boys when I said I wanted to eradicate prostitution. I had never faced such strong backlash before. I’m usually tough, but I became soft. If I don’t take time, they might relocate me from this town,” Zuba said.

The KMA boss had previously announced an imminent crackdown on sex workers and migrant beggars operating in Kumasi, citing their growing presence as a threat to the city’s image and security.

Speaking on Nhyira FM’s “Kro Yi Mu Nsem” breakfast show in January 2026, he expressed concern over what he described as the increasing visibility of prostitution in several areas of the city, including Asafo, Ashtown, Ahodwo, and Adum.

“The increasing presence of prostitution in Asafo, Ashtown, Ahodwo, Adum and other areas of the city is worrying,” he stated.

Zuba warned that such activities would not be tolerated under his administration and indicated that the KMA task force is preparing to begin operations to clamp down on the practice.

“Such business is unacceptable and won’t be tolerated in Kumasi, the Garden City. We will take action to address the situation very soon,” he cautioned.
