Prophecies from a number of African prophets are drawing attention and igniting debates as Ghana prepares for its 2018 elections. Notably, Nigerian Prophet Abel claimed to have gotten a heavenly revelation about the election’s outcome during a recent live YouTube session, making headlines for his audacious predictions. The National Democratic Congress (NDC) leader and former president John Mahama is the greatest option for Ghanaians, according to Prophet Abel. But he issued a warning: Mahama’s success depends on “the mercy of God.” He said, “Mahama will be winning, moving forward to success, but it will take a mercy of God; I bet you, that man, if he wins the presidency of Ghana, Ghanaians will cry.”

There is more to the prophet’s prophecies. He described a scenario in which Mahama would lead in the morning and afternoon of election day, but by evening, Bawumia, the candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), would overtake him. Many have questioned the veracity and ramifications of such prophecies in light of this unexpected turn.

Ghanaians are urged to maintain composure and concentrate on the election process as these forecasts spread. It is impossible to overestimate the significance of making well-informed decisions and respecting the democratic process. A local political analyst stressed that “the people’s choice will ultimately determine the outcome.” “It’s crucial to engage with the issues at hand rather than getting swayed by prophetic statements.” The relationship between faith and democracy in Ghana is called into question by the growing political power of prophetic voices. It is unclear how these predictions will affect voter sentiment and election turnout as the country gets ready for this historic event.
