Former Black Starlets head coach, Laryea Kingston, says it is quite disappointing the Black Stars did not qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The senior national team under the guidance of Otto Addo failed to qualify for the tournament for the first time in 20 years.

Ghana finished at the bottom of Group F with three points after recording three draws and three defeats during the qualifiers.

Speaking prior to the final draw of the tournament on Monday, Kingston, who is a former Ghana international expressed his disappointment after the West African country missed out on the tournament.

“I am very disappointed that our beloved country Ghana did not qualify. One of the strongest countries in African football soccer will not be participating in the AFCON in Morocco and that is quite a disappointing moment for me,” he told Sporty FM.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars will now turn their attention to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with games against Chad and Madagascar in March later this year.
