Otto Addo is Black Stars' head coach Otto Addo is Black Stars’ head coach

Black Stars Coach Otto Addo has said he is not perturbed over the possibility of losing his job after leading Ghana to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The 49-year-old has guided the senior national team to its fifth global showpiece appearance following their 1-0 win over Comoros on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium, with Mohammed Kudus scoring the only goal.

Despite the qualification, Addo’s future has come under serious scrutiny due to the inconsistent performance of the team.

But speaking to the Ghana FA website in an interview before the game against Comoros, the former Borussia Dortmund talent coach said his only concern is to make Ghanaians happy.

“What happens after is not in my hands. I hope that a lot of people, if we win, can go to America. We have to win this game. This is what we are looking at. If Ghanaians are happy, then we are happy,” Addo responded to a question on calls for his dismissal after qualification.

Following the qualification, Otto Addo has become the first coach to lead the Black Stars to a back-to-back World Cup, having led the team to the 2022 global showpiece in Qatar.

Ghana will learn its 2026 World Cup group opponents on December 5.
