The husband of a California housewife accused of murdering a Saran wrap fetishist in a BDSM session gone wrong has broken his silence.
Brandon Rylaarsdam’s picture-perfect life was upended last month after his wife Michaela Rylaarsdam, 31, was charged over the death of Michael Dale, 55.
Prosecutors allege that Rylaarsdam suffocated Dale during an explicit encounter which was filmed for her OnlyFans account.
While Rylaarsdam’s public Instagram paints a portrait of wholesome family life, she moonlights on the platform, while she and Brandon also operate an adult entertainment company.
When contacted through their company on Tuesday, Brandon was reluctant to discuss his wife’s situation.
‘I would prefer not to speak on it, we are letting our lawyer take care of that,’ he told DailyMail.com.
Bizarrely, Rylaarsdam is being held without bond in jail, but her OnlyFans profile is still active.
It was last accessed in the early hours of Wednesday morning ET, suggesting Brandon may be keeping an eye on the account for his wife.
Dale died after he asked Rylaarsdam to wrap him in Saran wrap ‘like a mummy’ as part of an erotic asphyxiation fantasy, investigators said.
Michaela’s lawyer Dan Cohen said that it was clear his client did not intend to kill Dale, whose official cause of death was linked to a lack of oxygen to the brain.

Brandon refused to discuss the charges against his wife, directing inquiries to his lawyer
He also questioned the coroner’s determination, noting that Dale reportedly had alcohol and prescription drugs in his system, which he said may have contributed to the death.
Rylaarsdam has pleaded not guilty to second degree murder. She is expected to remain behind bars until her trial kicks off.
Police said the incident took place two years ago, during a consensual BDSM session after Dale contacted Rylaarsdam through an online advert for an escort business.
The married mother-of-three told investigators it was the first time she had engaged in fetish behavior.
As part of the encounter on April 17, 2023, Dale asked her to glue women’s boots to his feet and put his head in a plastic bag according to an affidavit obtained by The San Diego Union Tribune.
Evidence suggests that Rylaarsdam was paid more than $11,000 in exchange for her services, investigators said.
Disturbing video obtained from the accused’s phone showed Dale inside the bag for around eight minutes, as well as other clips of him struggling to breathe after duct tape a plastic bag and Saran wrap were placed over his mouth, according to the affidavit.
Dale’s arms and legs had been bound with plastic meaning he was unable to remove the bag or wrappings from his head, the filings state.

As he lay unresponsive, Rylaarsdam was performing a sex act nearby by for her OnlyFans page, prosecutors allege.
The clip was taken moments before she called 911 and began CPR on Dale, according to the affidavit.
Dale was rushed to the hospital where he was declared brain dead the next day.
His cause of death was linked to deprivation of oxygen to the brain according to the coroner.
‘The evidence showed that he hired her to perform bondage acts and fetish acts,’ said Deputy District Attorney David Jarman told the San Diego Union Tribune.
‘There is no indication that he asked her to obstruct his breathing, asked her to put tape over his mouth, asked her to put a plastic bag over his head.’
