YouTube officially licensed two artworks by Ghanaian visual artist Derrick O. Boateng and acquired additional pieces from his ‘Music Makes the Pain Fade’ collection for the ‘African Artist’ category at the 2026 Grammy Awards, marking a major milestone in his career and a significant moment for African visual art on a global stage.

The artworks were prominently featured across official Pamoja YouTube Grammy Party invitations and save-the-date visuals, a platform curated by YouTube to celebrate African music and culture during Grammy week.

The initiative highlights the growing influence of African creatives across multiple art forms, beyond music alone.

Boateng’s works were used to honour and celebrate African nominees at the 2026 Grammys, including Burna Boy, Davido, Ayra Starr, Wizkid, and other leading artistes representing the continent on one of the world’s most prestigious music platforms.

Known for blending emotion, colour, and storytelling, Derrick Boateng’s ‘Music Makes the Pain Fade’ collection explores how sound, memory, and art intersect as tools for healing and expression, making it a fitting visual companion to a celebration of music’s power and impact.

The collaboration underscores YouTube’s continued commitment to elevating African voices globally through its Pamoja programme, while also spotlighting the increasing recognition of African visual artists within international cultural spaces such as the Grammy Awards.
