    On September 17, 2025, the Government of Ghana announced that five distinguished personalities in the creative and cultural space has been issued diplomatic passports.

    The recipients; travel vlogger and YouTuber Wode Maya, entrepreneur and media personality Akosua Dentaa Amoateng, multiple Grammy-nominated reggae artiste Rocky Dawuni, broadcaster Anita Erskine, and artist Ibrahim Mahama, have also been named ambassadors for the upcoming 2025 Diaspora Summit, scheduled for December 19 and 20 in Accra.

    Here’s how Wode Maya, Dentaa, Rocky Dawuni, and Ibrahim Mahama reacted to the diplomatic passport honour:

    Wode Maya

    Wode Maya took to social media to share his reaction, describing the experience as surreal.

    “We’ve been on this incredible journey showcasing Ghana and the African continent to the world, and never in my wildest dreams did I think a proud village boy like me would be holding a Diplomatic Passport. I’m truly humbled and deeply grateful to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ghana,” he wrote.

    Akosua Dentaa Amoateng

    Akosua Dentaa Amoateng described the honour as humbling and deeply meaningful.

    In a post, she highlighted the importance of storytelling, connection, and cross-border collaboration.

    “I’m humbled to have been honoured with a Diplomatic Passport by the Government of Ghana, alongside some truly inspiring Ghanaians, Wode Maya, Rocky Dawuni, Anita Erskine, and Ibrahim Mahama.

    “This recognition means so much to me. It reflects the work we’ve been doing for over 20 years to showcase Ghana, connect Africa and its diaspora with the world, and create opportunities for collaboration and growth. The diaspora plays a vital role in nation-building, and this milestone reminds me how powerful we can be when we come together to invest, innovate, and tell our own stories,” she wrote.

    She added, “Thank you to everyone who continues to support this journey and the many partners and friends who believe in our mission. Let’s keep telling our story and building bridges that uplift Africa,” she wrote.

    Ibrahim Mahama

    Artist Ibrahim Mahama also expressed gratitude for the gesture from the government.

    He emphasized the practical value of the passport, especially for those whose work requires frequent international travel.

    “This is humbling. If you travel a lot doing this kind of work, you will appreciate the significance of this gesture from the government. Special thanks to the Foreign Affairs Minister, the President of Ghana, and finally, thank you, Ghana. We will continue to make you proud,” he said.

    Rocky Dawuni

    According to Rocky Dawuni, the honour aligns with his career-long mission to promote Ghana on the international stage.

    In an interview with GhanaWeb, the reggae artiste described the moment as a meaningful opportunity to serve his country in an even more visible capacity.

    “I’m grateful to my country for conferring on me this opportunity to be a diplomatic representative of my nation. Throughout my career, I have always believed in talking about my country,” he said.
