Ghanaian musician Olivetheboy has revealed that his father was unhappy with his decision to defer from university to pursue a music career.

According to his account, he was studying Business Administration at the University of Ghana, Legon, until he reached level 300, when he developed a strong interest in pursuing music.

The ‘GoodSin’ hitmaker explained that, in order to prevent his studies from being negatively affected, he made the bold decision to defer from the university. However, his father rejected the idea.

Speaking on The Delay Show on April 5, 2025, Olivetheboy stated that he disregarded his father’s advice to quit school and focus solely on music.

“I was at the University of Ghana Business School, studying Business Administration at level 300. I had to defer because there were many things I needed to do for my music career. To avoid disrupting my studies, I decided to defer and focus on other things. My father, who is a pastor, was not happy with my decision, but I didn’t care,” he told Deloris Frimpong Manso, also known as Delay.

The musician further shared that he intends to establish himself in the music industry before returning to complete his studies at the university.

“I will definitely go back to finish it. Probably within the next two years, I should be able to complete it. It’s because I want to solidify my brand before taking any break,” he added.
