The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has successfully brought home three Ghanaian traders who were injured during a terrorist attack in Burkina Faso on Saturday, February 14, 2026.

In a statement on Wednesday, February 18, the GAF explained that the evacuation was part of a coordinated humanitarian and security effort by the Ghanaian government to ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens caught up in the attack.

The injured traders were flown back to Ghana on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, by the Ghana Air Force.

Upon landing, they were immediately taken to the 37 Military Hospital in Accra for urgent medical assessment and treatment.

This operation highlights the government’s commitment to protecting its citizens abroad, particularly in areas affected by terrorism and conflict.

The evacuation was carried out in close coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, the Ministry of Defence, and the Ghana Armed Forces, all working together to ensure a swift and safe evacuation.

The GAF also expressed deep sympathy for the families of those who lost their lives in the attack.

“The Ghana Armed Forces extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved families, prays for the repose of the souls of the deceased, and wishes the injured a speedy recovery,” the statement read.
