Former Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has disclosed that André Dede Ayew is unfazed about his omission from the Black Stars squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The former Udinese midfielder indicated that he held a conversation with Ayew after the announcement of the Black Stars squad and that the Le Havre forward is not perturbed by his absence from the Black Stars.

“I spoke to Dede Ayew, and he is not worried,” Agyemang-Badu said during an interview with Connect FM.

The retired footballer noted that, although Dede’s recent performances for his club side have improved, head coach Otto Addo’s decision to exempt him from the squad should be respected by the players and the public.

“We all know that player selection for the Black Stars is based on performance. Dede is delivering, but we must respect the coach’s choice,” he added.

Prior to the announcement, Dede Ayew reiterated that he remains committed to the national team and has no intention of retiring anytime soon.

The squad announced by Otto Addo saw Thomas Partey’s return to the team following a short absence, while André Dede Ayew was left out once again.

The team will face Chad on March 21, 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium before facing Madagascar in an away fixture on March 24, 2025.

The Black Stars are second in Group I with nine points, tied with leaders Comoros, while Madagascar are third with seven points, followed by Mali with five points.
