Asante Kotoko’s game against Legon Cities at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, although entertaining, had some emotional moments just before kickoff.

After a brief halt in the Ghana Premier League (GPL), the competition finally resumed with some mouthwatering fixtures over the weekend, from Friday, February 7, 2025, to Sunday, February 9, 2025.

Following the passing of Francis Frimpong, popularly known as Pooley, and a heartfelt burial by Asante Kotoko, the Kumasi-based team and Legon Cities united to honor the memory of the devoted fan, who had a deep connection with the club.

The entire Asante Kotoko team, along with the staff and technical members, lined up for a picture with a flyer of Pooley, which bore the inscription “Forever in our hearts.”

Legon Cities also paid their respects to the late fan, with only the players in the starting lineup taking part in the tribute.

Asante Kotoko would eventually secure all three points on the day, piling more pressure on Legon Cities, who are entangled in a relegation battle.

The win ensures Asante Kotoko maintain their spot at the top of the standings with 37 points after 20 games. However, Legon Cities remain 17th on the league table, having amassed just 17 points after 20 games.
