Liverpool are in advanced talks to extend the contract of Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah, following the likely departure of his teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is said to be closer to a move to Real Madrid.

According to Egyptian journalist Masrawy, who is close to Salah’s camp, the club has presented a lucrative financial offer that is closer to the player’s demands.

He stated that Salah’s agent, Rami Abbas, has received the offer and is engaging with the player to agree to the contract extension.

“Negotiations between Liverpool and Rami Abbas, Salah’s agent, are much more advanced this time than ever before, and the offer presented is higher than any offer made to the player before,” Masrawy said, as reported by standard.co.uk.

The Egyptian journalist went on to explain that Liverpool were able to improve the offer to Salah as their wage bill has been freed up due to Alexander-Arnold’s expected move to Real Madrid.

“Arnold’s imminent departure from Liverpool will be a major factor in Salah’s contract renewal, following the reduction of the club’s high salaries, allowing the Egyptian star to be given what he desires in his new contract with the Reds,” he added.

This comes as a relief to Liverpool fans, as Salah has been the Reds’ best player in the 2024/2025 season, having scored 27 goals and provided 17 assists in the Premier League, and is on the verge of winning the title.

Meanwhile, Alexander-Arnold has received immense backlash on social media after reports emerged that he is on the brink of agreeing to a deal with Real Madrid on a free transfer.
