A charged and joyful atmosphere has taken over the Heaven Way Champion International Ministry following the release of their leader Evangelist Patricia Asieduaa Asiamah, widely known as Nana Agradaa.

A video shared on X by DEK360Ghana on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, it captured some members in a thanksgiving mood, expressing gratitude to God for what they see as the new chapter for Agradaa.

Her husband, Angel Asiamah, confirmed her return home in a Facebook post on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, stating, “Thank God my wife is finally home”

Asiamah has been at the centre of the welcome preparations. In the days leading up to her return, he unveiled a commemorative T-shirt printed with the words, “PRAY EVERYDAY,” urging members to approach the occasion with reflection and renewed faith.

Why Agradaa’s sentence has been reduced

The church building itself received a fresh coat of paint and minor renovations to accommodate the expected turnout.

Following her release, she has spoken about her prison experience and how her faith sustained her during the eight-month ordeal.

She particularly shared moments and emotions she felt in the courtroom before her legal team successfully fought for the massive reduction of her sentence.

“I asked myself that what have I done wrong to be incarcerated. The day they announced at the court that I was to serve for 15 years, I refused to accept the fact that I will serve the 15 years sentence. I believed at that point that only prayers and Bible would help me. If you read Acts chapter 12, Peter was thrown in prison, the brethren prayed for him, he prayed and God had mercy and came through for him. Again in Acts 16 Paul and Silas were thrown in jail for preaching the word of God, like in my case,” she stated.

BREAKING: Nana Agradaa released from prison

Agradaa’s path to freedom followed a significant legal battle. She was initially sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment on July 3, 2025, after being convicted of defrauding by false pretence and charlatanic advertisement.

The conviction arose from a 2022 televised broadcast in which she announced she would share GH¢300,000 with members of the public, but instead collected various sums of monies from them without making any disbursements.

Her legal team challenged the ruling, arguing that the sentence was excessive. Upon review, the Amasaman High Court, presided over by Justice Solomon Oppong-Twumasi, reduced the term to 12 calendar months, describing the original punishment as unusually harsh and excessive.

In his ruling, Justice Oppong-Twumasi stated: “Considering all the circumstances of the case together, I came to the irresistible conclusion that the sentence of 15 years imprisonment imposed on the Appellant was indeed unusually harsh and excessive” .

The court observed that the trial judge had not sufficiently weighed the scope of the offence but rather “became fixated only on the person involved in imposing the sentence on the Appellant”.

The High Court noted that the trial record showed two complainants who each lost GH¢500, totalling GH¢1,000, though it clarified that the relatively small sum did not excuse the criminal conduct.

The court also criticised the handling of evidential inconsistencies, pointing out that the trial judge only commented on inconsistencies in the defence’s evidence while ignoring those in the prosecution’s case.

The revised sentence was ordered to take effect from the date of conviction, July 3, 2025. The High Court also imposed a fine of GH¢2,400, in default of which she would serve an additional three months’ imprisonment .
