Ghanaian actor Nana Yeboah has shared the chilling story of how he nearly lost his life after opening the doors of his home to one of his closest friends who poisoned his drink.

The outspoken Kumawood actor disclosed that the friend, who frequently visited his home, laced a fresh box of juice with poison.

Nana Yeboah said he was on the verge of consuming the drink, and that had it not been for God’s intervention, he would not be alive today.

In an interview with Emelia Brobbey, Yeboah recounted the terrifying experience: “There was this one time my friend came to visit me at my house, and I offered him some drinks. I had Malt and Fru Telli juice available. He went into one of my rooms where I kept drinks stacked in a storage area. He picked the first, second, and third drinks, and then opened one of them, and added some substance to it. At first, I didn’t notice anything unusual. I even asked if he wanted more, but he declined, saying he was fine and later left.”

He continued, “I insisted on giving him more, especially since these are drinks I sell, and I wanted to give out those that were close to their expiry date. So, I took one of the drinks, poured it into a glass, and immediately noticed it was foamy. The box was even swelling. That’s when I realised something was wrong and threw it away.”

Yeboah, known for his no-nonsense attitude, said that once he realised the drink had been poisoned, he immediately called his friend to confront him.

He explained that his friend was the only person who regularly visited him, as his partner and children live in Obuasi.

“I thought long and hard about who would want to poison me, and the only person who came to mind was my friend because he’s the only one who comes to my house. Nobody else visits me. So, I called him and asked if he was sent to kill me. I told him to tell whoever sent him that their plans had failed. He was silent on the phone and couldn’t say a word.”

A week later, Nana Yeboah said the friend called to beg for forgiveness.

He recalled, “He came back a week later, asking for forgiveness. I told him there was nothing to forgive because when I first confronted him, he didn’t tell me the truth. Since then, he hasn’t contacted me again.”

Reflecting on the trauma of the incident, Yeboah admitted that the experience had left him deeply shaken. “This whole thing has really frightened me. I’m now extremely scared of people,” he added.
