    A woman has died after he car reversed over her at a shopping centre car park.

    The woman, 77, died after being struck by her white Volkswagen T-Cross at Poinciana Avenue in Tewantin, on the Sunshine Coast, at 3.45pm on Tuesday.

    The woman suffered significant head injuries. 

    Emergency services performed CPR on the woman, however she succumbed to her injuries.

    No other person or vehicle was involved.

    Shocked shoppers described the scene of chaos. 

    ‘I was shopping there. Five minutes later I heard the sirens,’ Tanja Stähelin told the Courier Mail.

    Ms Stähelin said the woman had been behind the car while the motor was running.

    Steph Church said bystanders had attempted to save the woman.

    ‘To the gentleman who assisted in trying to control the bleeding, you did an amazing job. You were clearly shake afterwards. Take care of yourself mate,’ she said.

    ‘It’s a hard time for the family of this lady and the people who witnessed the horrific incident.

    ‘Remember everyone, take care of yourselves, stay safe and give your loved ones a hug, tell you love them. Life can change in a matter of seconds.’
