The young man in his 30s was using Lloyds’s services on St Peters Street this afternoon when he was violently attacked.

He was pronounced dead at the scene after the stabbing at 2:35pm, with police now undergoing a murder investigation.

The customer has not been formally identified but his family have been made aware of the murder.

The city centre is still overwhelmed with a heavy police presence as large stretches of the pedestrianised street outside the murder scene remains taped off.

Derbyshire Police have asked for anyone with any information that could help track down the killer to call 999 and use the reference number 678.
