In a bold move to reinvigorate the music scene in Kumasi, Hometown Records has officially launched, marking its entrance with the signing of its first artist, the talented musician and producer, Ben Brainy. The unveiling and signing ceremony was held with notable figures in attendance, setting the tone for what promises to be an impactful journey in the Ghanaian music industry.
During the event, Mr. Fidel Idun Kuranchie, widely recognized as DJ Kaxtro, took center stage to articulate the label’s mission. He emphasized the significance of Kumasi as a breeding ground for raw talent and the long-standing challenges creatives face due to inadequate label services and structural support. DJ Kaxtro stated, “Kumasi is and has been home to many talents since the days of Adam. However, the challenge has always been the lack of proper label services and structures to propel these talents to greater heights. Hometown Records is not only focused on music talents. We intend to sign on other creatives to build a greater ecosystem from this part of the country.”
The label’s vision extends beyond music, aiming to be a nurturing hub for various creative talents, fostering growth and providing the much-needed infrastructure for artists to thrive.
The First Artist Hometown Records unveiled its first signee, Ben Brainy, at the event. Born Benjamin Yamoah, Ben Brainy is an accomplished graduate of Takoradi Technical University and a highly skilled musician and producer with a solid catalogue of work. He has a unique sound that is set to capture audiences both locally and globally.
In his address, Ben Brainy expressed his excitement and optimism about this new chapter in his career. “It’s such a great moment in my career. Almost everyone on the label is someone I’ve known and worked with in different ways for over 10 years. They are family, and their vision aligns with mine, hence signing to the label,” he said.
