Ghanaian hiplife artiste Reggie Rockstone has asserted that the hiplife genre has contributed more to youth employment and creative opportunities than any other cultural movement in the country’s history.

Speaking in an interview on Onua FM on November 18, 2025, Reggie highlighted the significant impact the genre has had since its inception, especially in empowering young people.

According to him, hiplife became a vehicle through which young talents found their voices and discovered new avenues to earn a living.

“I love the fact that young people are very involved in hands-on. I love the fact that young people have a voice. Hiplife gave young people a chance to express themselves and to make a living,” he said.

Reggie Rockstone stated that the genre’s influence goes beyond music, stating that it created an ecosystem that generated jobs in many industries.

“Hiplife has created the most employment ever in history. From musicians, studios, designers, event shows, all these are because of hiplife,” he shared.

He noted that hiplife’s global visibility even attracted major international personalities to Ghana.

“Jay Z came to Ghana because of hiplife. Through hiplife, musicians get endorsement deals. We broke a lot of stereotypes but people don’t really remember,” he added.
